large family's Riverside stay in Feb. 2010

Unread post by kaceylauren »

We think of Riverside as our vacation home!!!

In the first week of February of 2010, my husband and I took our three children and his two parents to Disney World and we stayed the week at Port Orleans. The children were 2, 2, and 14 months old (twins and a baby brother!). We originally requested connecting rooms with the reservation, but didn't re-confirm that request until our arrival. However, the front desk was exceptional and since we went in an off-peak time, there were rooms available to us. My in-laws took one room (2 double beds) and we took a connecting room (2 double beds). The kids swapped back and forth where they slept. We requested a play yard for the baby and it was delivered to us in our room immediately and the Mousekeeper set it up for us. Also at the front desk, they made sure the kids all had coloring pages and crayons to use in the room, plus all the kids were given 1st Time Visit buttons. We stayed at Oak Manor and found the walk to the food court to be short and lovely, and the walk to the south depot was also very easy. It was a great room location.

Mousekeeping kept our two rooms in great shape. We had children's stuffed toys of our own in the room and Mousekeeping always left us towel animals and incorporated the kids' toys into whatever she did with the towel animals. It was adorable and the kids looked forward to getting back to the room each night. The food court was easy to navigate, good prices, good food, and one of the best deals was the pizza. 2 large pizzas easily fed all 7 of us and was a cheap dinner comparatively speaking. Next time, we plan to get the dining plan, because you get to use a table service in exchange for a character meal.

Everything went really very smoothly at Riverside and we look forward to revisiting. Based on more research this time around, our next trip (in Feb. of 2012) will again be requesting Oak Manor, requesting connecting rooms, with one of the rooms requested to be a king size room. Also we'll be calling the front desk 4 days before we check in, just to re-state our requests and double check everything. We're not renting a car this time around, so we'll be using Magical Express for our luggage.
