Halloween

We will be at Disney over Halloween. The "Not So Scary" party seems over priced. I have heard Downtown is a mad house. Does Port Orleans have any events that evening? This would be for an 8 and 10 year old. Thanks.

Entertainment events at the resorts are only annouced month-by-month, so it's hard to say, but I'm sure there will be some fun goings on. See the Recreation Activities Schedules page and check out last year's events.

The Not-So-Scary Halloween parties are GREAT fun by the way, and well worth doing once at least, but the one on 31st October will be packed so I'd suggest you look for a different date if you can. Don't tag it onto a park day as the kids will get quite tired, but arrive at the MK at the earliest admission time (usually 4pm) to get the best value from the ticket.

Thank you. We will consider Not So Scary for another night. Any comment on Downtown, Halloween night? Heard very very busy but also heard crowds might be smaller because Disney no longer passes out candy. I do not see anything scheduled on the official Downtown web site for Halloween night. Any idea what we should expect if we go?

We were there last year at that time our 8 year old nephew had a great time fancy dress for kids and adults with best costume, a pumpkin competition. Camp fire, and outdoor movie, and candy/sweets by the bucket load have fun

The Resort does sound fun for Halloween.

However, I am still looking for some insight on Downtown Disney that same night. I cannot find definitive information. Seems a few years ago Disney advertised an event at Downtown on Halloween. This year I can't find anything. Anyone have any insight, even a guess?

I am absolutely not sure about this, but I think I read somewhere that the DTD event was canceled because it was too crazy and crowded.

I don't know about the canceled part, but here is something I found on another board. It was posted in August of '11.

Re: Does Downtown Disney do anything Halloween night?
We went last October 31 to Halloween at DTD. It was a mob scene!! Never again!! We got separated from our son and his family and could never get back to them. Fortunately, the kids were in strollers so they didn't get swept up in the masses of people. It was certainly not fun for the kids being bumped aroung with lines wherever candy was being given out. We waited forever to get a bus back to our resort..NEVER, EVER AGAIN!!
