POR Lobby Refurbishment / River Roost Lounge changes

Unread post by The Sassagoula Sentinel »

We posted back in February about the forthcoming maintenance work due to take place in the Port Orleans Riverside lobby during April and May. Resident entertainer Bob Jackson has just updated his website with the following additional information:
They are going to be remodeling the lobby of Port Orleans Riverside, and they will be using part of the lounge for lobby functions. So starting April 11, my show will end at 11 PM. As of now, I'll still be starting at 8:30 PM. That might change. The rehab work will continue through May 23. We'll get through it!
Also, Denise from MouseSteps.com has just reported that some of the seats from the lobby have already been removed for maintenance work.

Update on 8 April:

Bob has updated his website to give new dates of 25 April - 6 June for the lobby refurbishment work.

Update on 15 April:

The lobby refurbishment work is due to commence on Monday 23 April and is expected to take about six weeks.

Bob's site says as of April 22nd, not April 11th. I hope you have a typing error and April 22 is correct. I am staying from the 13th and plan on seeing Bob that night. - see I'm self serving! lol

I guess work may have been delay, or at least the parts that effect the end of the Lounge?

Andre, are they scheduled to finish sooner now? I am arriving 5/28 and I have to admit I was a little upset when I heard about the lobby refurb... Part of the whole POR experience is walking in to that beautiful atrium upon check-in! But I guess what keeps it beautiful are the refurbs lol

Six weeks work would take them up to the first week of June I'm afraid.

Does anyone know what work will be undertaken during the refurb or how the work will impact on the River Roost/Boatwrights?

The main registration/concierge lobby is being refurbished - new carpet, repainting, woodwork, etc. During this period they are going to be using some of the space within the River Roost Lounge for various lobby functions. There should be no impact on Boatwright's as far as I know.
