PortOrleans.org Discussion Forums - Terms of use

By accessing “PortOrleans.org Discussion Forums” you agree to be legally bound by the following Terms. If you do not agree, please do not access and/or use these forums. We may change these Terms at any time, and although we’ll do our best to inform you of significant changes it would be prudent to review this regularly yourself as your continued usage of these forums after changes means that you agree to be legally bound by the updates and/or amendments.

Our forums are powered by phpBB software, which is an open-source bulletin board solution released under the “GNU General Public License v2” (GPL). The phpBB software only facilitates internet based discussions; phpBB Limited is not responsible for what is allowed and/or disallowed as permissible content and/or conduct. For further information about phpBB, including downloading their software, please see: www.phpbb.com.

As a user you agree to any personally identifiable information that you have submitted - and as a minimum that would be your email address, your created username and a ciphered “hash” of your password, along with the IP address that you used to access the site - being stored in a database on our USA-based server. While none of this information will ever be disclosed by us to any third party without your consent, or legal warrant, neither “PortOrleans.org Discussion Forums” nor phpBB shall be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to such information being compromised. For extra security you should avoid reusing the same username and/or password across a number of different websites, and NEVER disclose your passwords to anyone, including forum administrators.

During the course of using these forums you may subsequently provide other content - either via your public profile or in your public posts on the forums - and although it is ultimately your own decision we would STRONGLY advise against including any personally-identifiable information in such publicly viewable locations.

While using these forums you agree not to post or privately message any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any laws of your own country, the country where these forums are hosted (Utah, USA), or International Law. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned, with notification of your Internet Service Provider should that be deemed necessary or it becomes a legal requirement. Similarly, posting or privately messaging any advertising, promotional content, unsolicited links to other services or websites without related context, or anything else broadly deemed as “spam” is strictly forbidden. The IP addresses of all posts are logged to aid in enforcing these conditions.

You agree that the administrators and/or moderators of these forums have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit. User accounts which are deemed to be completely dormant - i.e. they have never been used to make posts and the user has not visited/logged-in for several years - may be purged and deleted without notice.

By default, your account is configured to prohibit other users from sending you direct emails - although you may correspond via Private Messages, for which you will be notified. Forum administrators are permitted to contact you by email specifically with regard to the operation of your account, however you will never receive any unsolicited informational, promotional, marketing or other “spam” messages. Once registered, you can adjust any of these Notification preferences via your User Control Panel.

In order to protect minors, users of these forums must by law be aged 13 years or older (16 years for UK citizens). If you do not meet this requirement then you are NOT permitted to create an account now and should arrange for a responsible adult, parent or guardian, to access the forums on your behalf. By continuing to use these forums, you are confirming that you meet the stated minimum age requirement.

If you need more detailed information on how this website stores, processes and uses personal information collected from you during the operation of these forums, including how to delete your account, please refer to our main website Privacy and Cookies Policy page before continuing. Further usage of this forum implies acceptance of all of the above Terms of Use and the Privacy and Cookies Policy.
