Love Port Orleans!

Unread post by juliemarie62 »

Just got back from an amazing 14 night stay at the French Quarter. We stayed in building 3 overlooking a beautiful fountain - near enough to the food court that it was convenient to top up our Disney cups at anytime, but far enough away not to hear any noise from the pool. Room was lovely, only small complaint was that previous occupants had stuck gum to the carpet and despite her best efforts the maid couldn't remove it. New coffee machines great for an early morning 'cuppa'.
We liked the fact that the resort wasn't too 'Disney' - it was good to escape as we didn't have children with us. Scat Cats with Elliot Dyson was relaxed and friendly and Elliot was amazing! We loved his voice and what a musician. Don't forget to sample a cocktail or too from the bar menu.
Food was good and the queues never too long. We often walked down to Riverside as the choice was much greater. We had the Quick Service dining plan and found it ample and there was enough variety for the 14 days. We used the Quick Dining in the Contempory and Grand Floridian for a couple of lunches in a lovely setting. Any spare snacks left at the end of the stay could be used to purchase bags of candy/boxes of biscuits for extra gifts to take home.
The main complaint about the bus service worried us before we went, but on only one occasion did we wait 20 minutes and agian on only 1 occasion did the bus stop at Riverside first. Over the full 14 days we found the service efficient and certainly the best way to travel around Disney World.
Using the Disney delivery service to send any gifts purchased throughout the parks back to the resort was great. We would return to our room to see the message light glowing and know that our purchases from the day before were ready for collection - so much better than carrying purchases around all day.
Can't wait for the next visit - will start saving now!
