Online check-in and room requests

Does online check-in diminish the chances of a room request being granted? If central reservations releases bookings to the resort five days prior, it seems that actual allocations would occur within those five days up until check-ins. So if you were to check-in online the same day as arrival or maybe the day before, it seems that online check-in would effectively be the same as live check-in, in terms of probability of receiving a room request. However, you can actually check-in online up to ten days prior to arrival - does this mean that if a guest checks-in ten days prior, the booking is actually getting released to the resort ahead of the bulk releases five days prior, thus giving allocators a clearer opportunity/more openings/greater chances to meet a request?

Wow, good question. I hadn't thought of that myself when I checked in online a couple of days ago.

Just so everyone knows, when you do check in online, there isn't an area for comments to request a particular building or a room, just whether or not you need a fridge or a trundle bed.
