3rd POR visit June, 2015

Unread post by Z4tenor »

POR is a beautiful resort with great theming, friendly cast members, clean rooms and the expected Disney service.
Yes this resort is HUGE. If you want to be close to food court, main lobby be sure to ask for that on the initial reservation. Even the standard views are beautiful but it's nice to be close to the main bldg.

We stayed in bldg 27. 6/19 - 6/28. Room was clean and yes the redesign took out the dresser so we brought hangers from home which was a lifesaver. Love the new laundry system where you can monitor progress online.

We did have issues with buses this trip. One evening as many of us waited for almost 40 minutes for a MK bus, an ECV came driving down the street (yes, the road) and pulled in front of the rest of us and got to Immediately board while the rest of us were left waiting for the next bus. This made several people upset and they let the CM know! It was rude of the person to shove ahead of everyone who was waiting. Seems like we spent lots of time either waiting on a bus or riding a bus this trip - many bus stops at the resort and also FQ.

The toilet paper is awful - we joked that there must be people that separate the TP rolls because they are single ply, ouch.

Food court was always busy and loud! Never enough ice, even at 6:30 am and often had no iced tea available. Be advised that you will need to go to different stations to build your meal (drink, dessert, side) so order the hot things last unless you like lukewarm.

We usually stay in June but for some reason this time there were just too many people and we got so tired of lines for everything from food, DVC info, buses. As far as moderates go it's a great resort but we will upgrade next time.

Thanks for the report, glad you had a good time (apart from the bus waits).

Yes, the food court can get very busy (especially at more crowded times of year) and I find it can get especially bad at peak breakfast times if you need to visit two different counters and then queue again to pay. Once thing I did note was the ice comment: I've sometimes thought the same since the Rapid Fill machines were introduced, but when I asked the Food & Beverage Manager about it she said the machines are deliberately restricted in terms of flow, as they were finding people were filling the cups up to full and then the ice machines were throwing ice out so fast the drinks were splashing everywhere. So they have now set them so the ice comes out quite slowly a chunk at a time, which can sometimes seem like the machine is struggling to cope.

Interesting about the ice machines - that does make sense :).

Another comment is that the online check-in was a breeze. We used the Touring Plans fax request and got within two rooms of what I requested. Got the exact building and river view, just no corner which is understandable.

YeeHaw Bob was fabulous and he's a must do for anyone staying here. The kids even got involved in his fun show. Still love this resort!
