Port Orleans Riverside Trip Report - April 2016

Unread post by EifertFamily »

This was our families first trip to Disney World and obviously, 1st trip to POR. We were there from Tue. 4/5 - Fri. 4/8, 2016. We had a great time! Being newly transplanted to GA from CA, we had a lot of comparisons to Disneyland, and although, I prefer the original, the Magic Kingdom was really nice. Big wide walkways and not too many areas of congestion, except for Adventureland it always seemed! We visited Magic Kingdom & Hollywood Studios on this trip. We found the buses to the parks be convenient and quick. The ferry ride on our arrival evening to Disney Springs was indeed relaxing and fun for our boys, ages 8 & 3. The quick service dining plan allowed us to enjoy a breakfast & dinner at the Riverside Mill; the dinner was excellent - the breakfast a little disappointing. The resort staff were exceedingly gracious and accommodating to our family. Our youngest has Down Syndrome and they were thoughtful of any needs and concerns we had about him and his MagicBand (that we lost & they replaced). The resort itself was a great walk - from our room (1st floor - Alligator Bayou building 39 - room 3903) to nearest smaller pool was about 30 seconds (!), to the North bus stop and/or Ol' Man Island pool was approximately 3-5 mins and from the room to the lobby/dining hall was about 5-7 mins (with a slow walking 8 yr old and a 3 yr old in a stroller). We would love to stay here again - although just for fun may opt to try another resort. Nothing bad to say at all about this resort! It will always be our first! You will enjoy it!

Thanks for your post! My wife and I are looking forward to celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary later this month at POR. The kids have been twice and it's time for us to slow down and enjoy! Good to hear that the staff and bus service were good. We are not planning to eat much at the riverside mill. Thanks for the report.
