Links to Other Sites

A quick look around the net shows that we’re not the only ones who seem to love the Port Orleans resort, including numerous Disney travel planning forums. I’ve compiled a short list of other websites which may be of interest to you, and included a link that can be added to your own web pages if you think my site is useful in return. If you think your site should be included here, please let me know.

Official / Commercial Sites

The following commercial sites are well-worth visiting, and I have either personally used or recommend all of them:

Walt Disney World Official Web SiteFor official information, to contact Walt Disney World directly, to make bookings, etc. then you need to visit Disney’s own web site, which has recently been completely updated (January 2009). They have specific pages, including some nice 360° photos, for both French Quarter and Riverside.
OrlandoMaps.co.ukHome of Steve Munns’ excellent Orlando tourist map. Highly recommended — don’t leave home without it!
TouringPlans.com Website of the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World book, this is a great planning resource and the site has a very useful Crowd Calendar. The book also contains some very useful comparative information about the resorts and its surveys rate the Port Orleans resorts as the top two Moderates.

WDW Trip Planning / Forum Sites

The DIBB Disney Orlando Holiday Planning The DIBB (Disney Information Bulletin Board). British Disney holiday planning forum which, as a Brit, is my usual online haunt as the folks there are local for me and very friendly and helpful; you’ll usually find a quick and accurate answer to any WDW related question here. For Port Orleans related questions, visit their Resorts, Hotels & Accommodation subforum.
AllEars.net If you want to know anything about Walt Disney World — from the parks to the hotels to the cost of an ice cream — then Deb Wills’ site is THE very best place on the net to get the information that you need. They also have some excellent and very detailed Port Orleans pages in their Accommodations section.
MousePlanet.comMouse Planet is an informative Disney theme parks site with some great blogs. I especially like their weekly WDW Park Update news & rehab information.
WDWMagic.comAnother particularly useful WDW news and information site.
Disney Echo MessagesThe Disney Echo is a social message board that’s been operating for even longer than the Internet! The Echo was first started in 1992 by a husband and wife team using the old FidoNet network, and has been going strong ever since.
DISboards.com Large Disney bulletin board, which (as they themselves state, for the purposes of full disclosure) is owned and operated by the owners of a commercial Disney-specialist travel agency.
MouseHacking.com Disney travel hackers finding the Magic in tips, tricks, points and miles. Some in-depth planning content and general travel tips and hacks that many Disney travelers are missing out on (include tips on saving money on your hotel stays).

Podcasts, Audio and Video

Eyes-on-Ears A brand new concept in fan sites, Eyes-on-Ears (previously known as DisLive) features LIVE video streamed directly from Walt Disney World, operated by fans, for fans. Some feeds feature amazing views from WDW resort hotel rooms while other more ambitious folks are even starting to stream live video & audio straight from the parks via laptops and mobile broadband — Wishes live anyone?
WDW Today Podcast WDW Today is a chat-based audio podcast featuring four knowledgeable regular hosts and occasional guests discussing all aspects of visiting Walt Disney World. It’s my main “must listen to” Disney podcast. Just ask for Doctor Scopa’s Miracle Elixir, or perhaps a bottle of Maple Syrup...
WDW Radio Show Presented by Disney trivia expert Lou Mongello, the multi award winning WDW Radio Show is a very professionally produced weekly podcast containing news, rumours, interviews and feature articles on all aspects of Walt Disney World. The presenter is also the co-publisher of the gorgeous new Walt Disney World specialist Celebrations magazine.
You may find WDW Radio Show #97 especially interesting as it includes a detailed feature on the Port Orleans resorts.
Inside the Magic The longest-running WDW-related podcast, Inside the Magic is another great source for news and views on what’s going on in the Florida parks. The presenter also co-founded the Orlando Attractions magazine.
SubSonic RadioSubsonic Radio is an online streaming station playing nothing but Disney park music — fabulous! Includes an excellent music request feature.

Other Interesting WDW Fan Sites

Polynesian Resort Tikiman’s NEW unofficial Polynesian Resort website — if my Port Orleans site ever gets to be even half as good as this wonderfully detailed tribute site, I’ll be very happy.
Coronado Springs Buzz2001’s Unofficial Coronado Springs web site — lots of info and some lovely photos. Now at a new web address.
Animal Kingdom Lodge Great looking Animal Kingdom Lodge Fansite, with lots of useful info and fabulous photos about the resort. Run by the folks from wdwforgrownups.com.
MouseSteps.com A wonderful, very regularly updated, photo-tour site run by an Orlando resident who must feel more at home wandering around Walt Disney World with her camera than she does at her own home! Of particular interest to Port Orleans fans will be her two detailed photo-walks around the twin resorts: Port Orleans French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside.
Brown Family Vacations A family photographs site with a wonderful series of photos of their May 2007 vacation to Port Orleans Riverside.
Magical KingdomsA website taking a wider view of the Disney theme parks and the cruise line worldwide, plus the animated films, music, etc.
