POR and POFQ pool area maintenance updates

Posted Sunday 22nd November 2015, 4:36am (EST) by The Sassagoula Sentinel

The planned dates for the Port Orleans Riverside Ol' Man Island pool closure are now set as 11 January 2016 to 4 March 2016 . This includes the main and children's pools, the hot tub and the Muddy Rivers pool bar - but the campfire, kids' playground, fishing hole and through-route walkways will remain open. This work could potentially run a little longer, but that's the most accurate information I have at present.

Also, construction work on the new Port Orleans French Quarter children's water play area is running slightly behind schedule due to some permitting issues, and it is now scheduled to open on 19 January 2016.

Halloween Pumpkin Decorating Content

Posted Sunday 1st November 2015, 4:59am (EST) by Admin

Denise and Jeff from MouseSteps.com visited Port Orleans for Halloween and posted this great video of the cast members' annual pumpkin decorating contest. They really went to town with the beautifully detailed and fun designs this year, and pumpkins included Muppets, Scrooge McDuck, Star Wars BB-8, Genie, Inside Out and even a candy apple design - and I especially liked the multi-layered Alice in Wonderland/Cheshire Cat creation.

POR main pool closure from 8 Jan 2016 for two months

Posted Sunday 11th October 2015, 4:54am (EDT) by The Sassagoula Sentinel

The Port Orleans Riverside main feature pool on Ol' Man Island (including the children's pool and the hot tub) will be closed from 11th January 2016 until 4 March 2016 for maintenance work. This could potentially run a little longer, but those are the most accurate dates I have at present.

All of the five quiet pools at Riverside will remain open, as will the French Quarter "Doubloon Lagoon" pool, which may be used by Riverside guests.

Update 7 Nov: A few people have been asking which sections of Ol' Man Island will still be open during the pool refurbishment work. As far as I can tell at the moment, the closure will be limited to the pool area itself (including the kids' pool, hot tub and Muddy Rivers pool bar). All the through-route walkways, the children's playground, the evening campfire and the fishing hole will remain open. The River Roost Lounge in the main building will open a little earlier in the day to compensate for Muddy Rivers being closed (which is actually quite common during Jan/Feb anyway, when it can get a bit cold for people to sit out by the pool).

Update 22 Nov: Dates for the pool closure now set as 11 January 2016 to 4 March 2016. This could potentially run a little longer, but those are the most accurate dates I have at present.
