Discounts and Special Offers

This page is by no means a comprehensive list of all the discounts and offers available for stays at Port Orleans, or elsewhere on Walt Disney World property. There are whole websites devoted to the subject, and I couldn’t even begin to match the detail that they can provide — check out or subscribe to MouseSavers.com for the most up to date information. However where a specific offer could be particularly useful to guests planning a visit to Port Orleans, I thought it might be a nice idea to list it on this site too.

Remember that in addition to any time-limited special offers, there are often discounts available to Annual Passholders, Cast Members, members of the AAA, Costco or Sam’s Club, Florida Residents and other special groups. However the depth of discount is not always that great, and some offers (such as Annual Passholder rates) are limited to a set quota of rooms for certain times of the year, and are no longer available once that allocation has been sold. It’s always worth keeping an eye out for any offers which may come out even after you have booked though, just in case switching might save you more money. Note: you cannot normally combine discounts, so you need to work out which deal is best for your trip and switch to it.

Note: Everything referenced on this page relates to bookings made directly with Walt Disney World in the USA. Bookings made from other countries or via other websites may have their own different discount offers and periods, and international guests in particular should check with their local Disney travel agents too.

PIN Codes: The best discounts are often based on elusive “pin codes” which Disney will periodically, and seemingly randomly, email out to previous guests as an incentive to persuade them to return. These are normally only valid for the recipient of that particular email, and often for fairly restricted dates, but if you happen to get one and the dates work for you then you can make some great savings.

Disney Dining Plan Offers: One other option to bear in mind is whether Disney might be offering any of their Dining Plans for free during the period of your stay. These Disney Dining Plans give you free meals at either the Quick Service or Table Service restaurants in Walt Disney World (depending on the type of plan) for the entire duration of your stay. This can save you a lot of money, especially with larger families, but is only available for “free” if you pay rack-rate for a room and tickets package. Thus an Annual Passholder staying alone might find they save considerably more money by getting a discounted room rate and then paying for food separately.

Bounceback Deals: Finally, if you’re coming to the end of a current vacation and have enjoyed it so much that you want to come back again, Disney may try to tempt you with time-limited “Bounceback” offers via a leaflet left in your room. If you didn’t receive one, ask at the Front Desk or call 8844 from your room phone to find out what is currently being offered, which might include discounted room rates or sometimes free dining plans. However please take the time to do this BEFORE you go home as these offers are no longer bookable after your departure date. Remember you can always cancel later if you change your mind, but the discounts are usually pretty good and you won’t get them later.

Disney Gift Cards: Members of discount warehouses such as Sam’s Club and Costco might also find it worthwhile to check on the prices of Disney Gift Cards. These companies often sell gift cards at up to 5% lower than face value, which could make quite a difference if you buy a few $500 cards in advance and use them to pay for everything (including your hotel room balance and anything you have charged using your magic bands) during your Walt Disney World vacation. Think of it as making every Disney World purchase almost tax-free!

For the current resort non-discounted rack-rates, please see our Room Rates page.

Remember that these offers are often available for many of the on-site Disney hotels, but I only list the details relevant to Port Orleans here. Please visit MouseSavers.com for more general Disney offers.

Spring/Summer 2018 Offers

Disney has released discount offers for stays during Spring/Summer 2018, and very unusually both Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter are included in some — although room availability is likely to be limited. See disneyworld.disney.go.com/special-offers for full details, but here is how they apply to Port Orleans:

An Incredible Summer Awaits — Save Up to 25% on Rooms at Select Disney Resort Hotels

With this offer you can save on rooms at select Disney Resort hotels for stays most nights from 11 June 2018 to 1 August 2018. There are some tiered discounts at the other resorts, but for Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter it appears to be a rather low flat rate of 10%. You need to book by 1 August 2018. The website also says to ask about “great rates” for stays most nights from 28 May through 10 June and 2 August through 30 August, but does not elaborate any further.

Incredibly Delicious Kid-Size Package Offer

As an alternative to the above discount offer, you can also get any of the Disney Dining Plans free for all children aged 3-9 when you book a package including full-priced room, theme park tickets, and the same dining plan for everyone in the room (Quick Service, Standard, or Deluxe are available). Valid for arrival dates from 11 June 2018 to 30 August 2018, your overall stay with the offer can extend further as long as you arrive by 30 August. The minimum stay is three nights and you must purchase at least a three-day base park ticket for each guest. Both Port Orleans resorts are included in the offer and you need to book by 1 August 2018.

As with all such offers, some dates and room categories may not be available, and you should weigh up the overall benefit compared with other options such as the Summer Room Discount. As Port Orleans is only receiving a maximum of 10% room discount, the free children’s dining offer might work out better value for you — especially if you have more than one child in the room and were intending to get a dining plan anyway. For example, if you have two children and would be purchasing the standard dining plan, you might save around $52 per night which is far better than a 10% discount.

Soak Up Some Sun & Fun — Save Up to 20% on Rooms at Select Disney Resort Hotels This Spring

With this offer you can save on rooms at select Disney Resort hotels for stays most nights from 15 April 2018 to 10 June 2018 when you book by 7 April 2018. Only Port Orleans Riverside is included, at just 10% discount, and there is no offer at French Quarter. Plus, if you upgrade to a room and ticket package which includes a minimum of 5-day theme park tickets (with the Park Hopper Option or Park Hopper Plus options) you get one more day added to the ticket for free.

Some Previous Expired Offers, for Reference Only

Summer/Fall 2017 Offers, including (limited) Free Dining offer [FINISHED]

The free “Disney Dining Plan” offer for USA room & ticket package bookings during Fall 2017 was announced on 24 April 2017, and as usual it’s sadly only of limited benefit to Port Orleans guests. Given that our two favourite resorts already sell very well, Disney simply doesn’t need to offer very much in the way of extra enticements, especially for the smaller French Quarter resort.

Port Orleans French Quarter is completely excluded from the 2017 free dining offer, however at Riverside the Quick Service plan is being offered in limited quantities and room categories for arrivals from 21 August to 30 September 2017. There is a minimum stay of three nights and you must purchase at least two days of Park Hopper tickets per person to be eligible. You can also upgrade to the Regular or Deluxe Dining Plans for a fee. Bookings must be made by 7 July.

In addition to Free Dining there are some other Summer/Fall 2017 room-only offers worth considering, although again you may have to be quick to snap up anything for Port Orleans as the allocation is limited. Theme park tickets can be added to the discounted room rates to build a package.

As always, please see the excellent MouseSavers.com website for full details of this and other offers.

Summer/Fall 2016 Offers [FINISHED]

On 25 April 2016, Disney issued the details of what has become an annually anticipated offer for guests staying on-site during the Fall. To try to increase occupancy levels during this traditionally quieter period, they are offering the Disney Dining Plan for free at select resorts when you book a full-price room and ticket combined package.

Sadly for Port Orleans fans though, the offer seems to be following the same overall pattern as last year. French Quarter is completely excluded from the offer for all dates, and Riverside is only available for limited dates and room types (only valid for arrivals from 23 August 2016 to 1 October 2016). To take advantage of the offer you need to book a minimum of three nights stay, and include at least two days worth of park tickets for every guest in the room. Currently you need to book by 8 July.

Other current offers relating to the Port Orleans Resorts include the following, which cannot be combined with Free Dining:

Availability and room types are limited so if you can be flexible with your dates and room category choices that may help.

Note: All of the above offers are only valid for bookings made via the US Disney Reservations Center, or the US Walt Disney World website (i.e. priced in US Dollars). For other markets, different offers may be available.

For example, on 21 April 2016 the UK Walt Disney Travel Company released its 2017 package offers, which only provide the Quick Service Dining Plan at Moderate Resorts, but with availability for most dates in 2017 when you book a room along with 7, 14 or 21 day tickets for everyone — plus they give you a 'free' $200 Disney Gift Card per booking. The 2017 offer provides two counter service meals (which no longer include desserts) and TWO snack items per day, plus one refillable mug, and it is valid at both French Quarter and Riverside for most dates from 1 January — 29 March 2017 and 17 April — 30 November, 2017 (subject to availability and room category choice). Book by 7 July 2016.

Winter 2013 Offer [FINISHED]

Save up to 30% on stays at Disney Moderate resorts (excluding Port Orleans French Quarter) for most nights from 2-Jan-2013 to 7-Mar-2013 (stays from 18-20 Jan are available at some resorts but may have different discounts). See this Disney Website Offers Page for full details.

There is also a “Play, Stay, Dine and Save” offer covering the same time period which gives discounts of up to $600 on 5-night/6-day Magic Your Way packages, with the Disney Dining Plan included, at Port Orleans Riverside or French Quarter. See this Disney Website Offers Page for full details.

You need to book these offers by 31st December 2012 via the Disney Reservations Center on (407) W-DISNEY, or contact a specialist travel agent and mention offer code Z3K for the room-only offer or Q83 for the package offer.

Fall 2012 Offer [FINISHED]

Save up to 25% on stays at Port Orleans Riverside for most nights from 1-Nov-2012 to 3-Nov-2012, 11-Nov-2012 to 16-Nov-2012, 24-Nov-2012 to 1-Dec-2012 and 10-Dec-2012 to 22-Dec-2012. There are slightly lower savings of up to 20% for most nights from 4-Nov-2012 to 10-Nov-2012 and 2-Dec-2012 to 9-Dec-2012. Thanksgiving week (17-23 Nov) is not available for this offer. See this Disney Website Offers Page for full details.

This is a room-only offer, however tickets and Dining Plans can be added at extra cost. Book by 31st October 2012 via the Disney Reservations Center on (407) W-DISNEY, or contact a specialist travel agent and mention offer code G97.

Free Disney Dining Plan with Full-price Magic Your Way Packages, late Summer 2012 [FINISHED]

You can get (subject to availability) a FREE Disney Dining Plan for every guest staying in the room when you book a full price Magic Your Way package and stay between 25 August and 29 September 2012. The package must include at least 3 nights of accommodation and at least a 2-day Base Ticket for every person in your party, all charged at full price. You can upgrade your tickets for an additional fee.

Guests who book a package at one of the Value Resorts receive Disney’s Quick Service Dining Plan. Guests who book a package at Moderate, Deluxe or Villa resorts — such as Port Orleans — will receive Disney’s regular Dining Plan. You can upgrade to higher Dining package for an additional charge.

Bookings must be made by 18 May 2012, and stays can be a maximum of 14 days. Blackout dates apply.

Spring Savings Offer 2012 [FINISHED]

Save between 5% and 30% on room-only bookings at select Disney resorts for stays between 13 April and 16 June 2012. Tickets and Dining Plans can be added, but that will turn your booking into a vacation package which will have different cancellation policies, etc.

Subject to availability, and you’ll need to make your booking by 31 March 2012.

Late Summer Savings, 2011 [FINISHED]

For stays from 14 August 2011 to 1 October 2011, get discounts off the regular rack rates at all Disney on-site resorts (including Port Orleans). Bookings must be made by 13 August 2011 and rooms are subject to availability. Quote booking codes L29 or O2R.

Weekend dates will be more expensive. Theme Park Tickets and Dining Plan options can be added. Call the Disney Reservations Center on (407) W-DISNEY, or contact a Disney-specialist travel agent, to book.

Kids Stay and Play FREE (2011) [FINISHED]

Purchase a “Magic Your Way” package (which includes room and theme park admission for all occupants) and any children aged under 10 can stay and get their theme park admission tickets for free. This offer is valid for most nights from 17 February to 16 April 2011, 28 April to 14 June 2011 and 14 August to 1 October 2011 (subject to availability).

Book directly with Disney, or through a specialist travel agent, by 13 February for stays within the first set of dates (using special offer codes ZM3 or KX6) and by 27 March for stays in the later two periods (using code OV8).

Note: the free children’s tickets are length-of-stay Base Tickets, not park hoppers, and they expire 14 days after first use. Also, since kids up to the age of 17 already stay in Disney rooms for free with their parents (Disney charges per room, not per person) then all you are really gaining from this offer is a couple of kids’ base tickets with a rack-rate room.

Seasonal Room Discounts (2011) [FINISHED]

There are a number of discount rates currently available, offering between 15% and 40% off room-only stays at Walt Disney World during 2011. Park tickets and dining plans can be added, at rack-rate, if you wish. See MouseSavers.com for full details of all the offers, but I’ll just list the ones relevant to Port Orleans guests here:

Note: Not all dates will be available at all resorts, and some dates are specifically blacked out; contact Disney or a specialist travel agent for specific details.
