Lightning Lane
As from the morning of 24 July 2024, the Genie+ daily ride reservation system changed into “Lightning Lane Multi Pass”. The new My Disney Experience (app only) based system operates more like the old FastPass+, allowing guests with valid tickets to pre-book time slots for up to three attractions at a park of their choice. A tiering system applies, so you can only pre-book a maximum of one headliner "top tier" attraction per day, and two (or even all three) lower tier attractions. Once you’ve attended your first pre-booked attraction of the day (or it has expired) you can then use your My Disney Experience app to search for a fourth available attraction from any tier – which could even be at a different park if you are park-hopping – and so on throughout the day.
Additionally, there are several very high demand attractions that can ONLY be purchased on a one-off basis, by separately paying for up to two "Lighting Lane Single Pass" slots per day. These include rides like TRON, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Guardians of the Galaxy, Rise of the Resistance, and Avatar Flight of Passage.
Guests with dated tickets, Annual Passes, etc will be able to book up to three days in advance of their visit, starting at 7am Eastern. Disney Resort hotel guests (including Port Orleans) will be able to make their bookings up to seven days prior to their arrival date, and then continue for the length of their stay up to a maximum of 14 extra days. Unlike the previous Genie+ system, selection can be made for your whole party first, to ensure that the choices you want are available, BEFORE making any payment – so no more leaving it to fate to see what’s left after you’ve handed over your money.
Officially the pre-booking facility for resort guests is limited to guests who are already in the USA or Canada, but if international guests change the “Country of Residence” in their My Disney Experience account to “USA”, and turn off their device’s Location Services, the restrictions should be bypassed.
Pricing is variable, but it is roughly in line with the seasonal/date-based pricing policy of the previous Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lane systems, so expect to pay $15-$30 per person per day for the Multi Pass option, and $15+ each for each named Single Pass ride.
Going into too much detail is beyond the scope of this Port Orleans website, but there is a lot more information all over the internet. I would suggest you start with the Walt Disney World website page Plan Ahead & Save Time in Line.
