Easter Activities at Port Orleans for 2011

Posted Sunday 10th April 2011, 6:39am (EDT) by The Sassagoula Sentinel

The famous Easter Egg Scramble will take place at Port Orleans again this year, and there will also be an Easter Egg hunt held in Boatwright's Dining Hall (presumably both activities will take place on Easter Sunday?). The resort also describes the arrival of "special Disney characters accompanied by Mr and Mrs Easter Bunny" although I'm not quite sure what that entails! Check with resort cast members for details.

The final building at Port Orleans French Quarter, building 3, is now undergoing refurbishment. Building 2 was completed around the end of last week and its rooms are now occupied. Port Orleans Riverside’s very own night-time entertainment legend, “Ye Haa” Bob Jackson, makes a lively guest appearance on today’s WDW Today Podcast. Visit the show page to download or listen to episode #852.

Oh and Matt, I’m sure I won’t be the first person to point this out, but Bob performs at Port Orleans RIVERSIDE, not French Quarter! Lovin’ the shoe anyway :-)

Posted Thursday 17th March 2011, 12:00pm (EDT) by The Sassagoula Sentinel

Organised by the Food & Beverage team, the resort held a fun Saint Patrick’s Day Scavenger Hunt on 17 March 2011, in which 47 families participated. One mother commented how she loved that she and her 8 children had to walk around the resort, getting exercise in a beautiful and clean environment on a gorgeous day.

French Quarter Building 1 completed, work has started on 2

Posted Saturday 12th March 2011, 6:00am (EST) by The Sassagoula Sentinel

The latest reports from Port Orleans French Quarter indicate that the three-week timeline for the refurbishment of each building is still right on schedule. Building 1 is now fully completed and occupied, and work commenced on building 2 on Monday 7th March. This should hopefully mean that the final building (number 3) will start work around Monday 28th March and the whole resort will be complete by the weekend before Easter, just in time for the very busy Easter break period.

I'm guessing that work on Port Orleans Riverside’s Parterre Place will not start until after Easter, so maybe we’ll see work commence there around Monday 2nd May? Keep watching here, or subscribe to our Image RSS News Feed, for the latest updates.
